How ARA Health Achieved a 20% Reduction in Reporting Time with Rad AI Reporting

Legacy reporting workflows can no longer keep up with the pace and complexity radiologists face today.
And for large practices with multiple sites and specialties, asking radiologists to speak faster isn’t the solution. Adopting a modern reporting solution designed to reduce friction is.
ARA Health Specialists (ARA Health) is a multispecialty radiology group based in Asheville, North Carolina, supporting imaging services across western North Carolina. With 70+ physicians serving 13 hospitals and more than 30 outpatient centers, interpreting nearly 100,000 studies each month, even small inefficiencies in reporting workflows can quickly add up.
After ARA Health transitioned from Microsoft PowerScribe 360 to Rad AI Reporting, they observed a 20% median reduction in reporting time site-wide, equivalent to about 20 seconds saved per study.
These efficiency gains were widespread across the group. 79% of radiologists demonstrated improved efficiency, and top decile radiologists achieved ~60% faster reporting, saving more than one minute per report.
Efficiency improvements were also observed across modalities including CR/DR, CT, MR, NM and PET, with 61 of the top 100 highest-volume procedures showing significant reductions in reporting time.
Beyond the metrics, the transition also improved the day-to-day experience for radiologists by reducing cognitive load and smoothing reporting workflows. As PW Chen, MD, Diagnostic Radiology and Diagnostic Neuroradiology, shared:
“After having used various iterations of the same product for over 15 years, using Rad AI for a couple months has led to a dramatic improvement in my workflow, efficiency and satisfaction. I now get frustrated whenever I’m scheduled into shifts still on the old platform.”
While seconds saved per report may seem modest in isolation, at the scale of groups like ARA Health those reductions quickly accumulate. In practice, the gains observed could represent the equivalent capacity of nearly six additional radiologists’ worth of time, giving radiologists valuable time back.
