From Information Overload to In-Workflow Insight

Radiologists are working with more information than ever.

In this webinar clip, Melissa A. Davis, MD, MBA, Vice Chair of Medical Informatics at Yale University, and Joseph Guiffrida, Chief Operations Officer at ARA Health Specialists, discuss how that is showing up in day-to-day practice.

As Demetri Giannikopoulos, Chief Innovation Officer at Rad AI, outlines, the volume of available information — from journal articles to new research — continues to grow, while radiologists are also expected to manage increasing workloads and deliver timely, accurate interpretations.

Radiologists often need to reference information during a case but doing so typically requires leaving the workflow — searching online, reviewing articles or accessing shared resources.

As Dr. Davis explains, this is still a common part of practice. Even in academic environments, radiologists frequently look up information multiple times a day.

From a community perspective, Guiffrida notes that many groups have already tried to organize this information through shared folders or internal systems. But in practice, accessing those resources depends on having the time to step away from the case.

With increasing volumes and productivity expectations, that time is limited. The opportunity discussed in this clip is to bring that information directly into the workflow, like the diagnostic support companion partnership between RSNA Ventures and Rad AI. Rather than requiring radiologists to search for relevant content, the goal is to make it available within the reporting environment — aligned to the case and accessible in real time.

As Dr. Davis highlights, having access to information isn’t enough. Radiologists need to be confident in the source and relevance of what they’re using. Embedding trusted content directly into the workflow helps address that need.

This clip is part of a broader discussion on how radiology workflows are evolving to address growing complexity and information demands. To hear more, you can access the full on-demand webinar.
